A Gift to Sustain: Bill Swank’s Donor Story

Bill Swank

William “Bill” Swank grew up in a pastor’s home. He later became a pastor himself, serving in churches across the Southwest before joining the Tarrant Baptist Association staff. For Bill, service to others defined his working years. Now, in retirement, he is supporting others who share that same calling.

“I believe that bivocational pastors and pastors of smaller churches make a tremendous impact,” explains Bill. “The issue, in my opinion, is that this impact is mostly unseen and that too many people are unaware of the sacrifices these pastors make.”

“I was fortunate to receive support from the churches I worked for. I was always able to contribute money to my GuideStone® account. But there are pastors at these smaller churches who did not have the same opportunity,” continues Bill. “So, when it became time for me to start making withdrawals from my account, I knew right away I wanted that money to go toward Mission:Dignity®.”

A Gift to Sustain Pastors in Need

It is Bill’s background as a pastor that gives him unique insight into the needs of these Southern Baptist pastors and their families. “I was blessed by these bivocational pastors growing up. I know the impact they make for the Gospel. I only wish I could pledge more!”

To those considering a donation to Mission:Dignity, Bill’s message is simple: “Giving sustains these pastors who served us with limited resources. Showing support financially and helping spread awareness about this ministry is a great way to honor their contributions.”
